Professional Development Program
The CORI Professional Development Program consists of four main components:
- CORI Facilitator's Guide
- CORI Teacher's Guides (Grades 3, 4, and 5)
- CORI Books: Engaging Adolescents in Reading (edited and co-authored by John T. Guthrie); Motivating Reading Comprehension: Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction (edited by Guthrie, Wigfield, & Perencevich); Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction: Engaging Classrooms, Lifelong Learners(Swan)
The four components of the Professional Development Program are intended to equip CORI workshop facilitators with the materials needed to support teachers' learning of CORI from a theoretical, practical, and experiential perspective. After the week long workshop, teachers should have the underpinnings to start implementing CORI in their classrooms. Further professional development will enable teachers to acquire the depth of understanding that supports sustained CORI implementation.
